Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy?

Supporting our patients’ ability to live an independent life by restoring function and preventing disability is our number one priority at TRIO. More than half of adults in America are, or will at some point during their lifetime, suffer from some form of limited movement or difficulty with speech/swallowing. Therapists are experts at treating movement concerns and neuro-musculoskeletal disorders.  Learn more about our services.

How long will I be in therapy?

This question depends on each patient’s condition. Patients who have experienced a trauma, such as a stroke or brain injury can require months of rehabilitation. Patients with orthopedic conditions typically take a shorter length of time.

How much can you help me relieve my pain?

We are here to walk alongside you in your recovery journey. Our therapists will identify the root cause of pain, teach you how to perform your own exercises, and increase the difficulty of those exercises as you recover. You’ll need to follow your home exercise program to achieve the best results.

Do I need a referral for therapy?

In the State of Texas, Therapists may conduct an initial evaluation for new patients without a referral from a physician. Should a person demonstrate a need for further intervention, a referral will need to be acquired.

Will my insurance company cover therapy?

It is the responsibility of the patient to know their benefits. This includes deductibles and co-pays. However, please keep in mind therapy is based on medical necessity. Medical necessity will be determined by your evaluating therapist with input from you, the patient. More information about this can be found on the new patient forms.

How does billing work?

We will bill your insurance company for each treatment; however, you are financially responsible for any portion not covered by your insurance, including deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurances. Detailed insurance coverage and financial responsibilities will be discussed prior to attending your first treatment.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule your appointments using our online scheduling form or by calling us at 830.331.8604.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

For your initial appointment, bring your referral (if needed), insurance card, ID, and available medical history documents downloaded from our website.

How early should I arrive?

For the initial evaluation, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow time to complete paperwork. Some medical forms are available to download, but additional documents may be required. We encourage you to download and complete available forms prior to arriving to your first appointment.

What should I expect on my first visit?

During your initial therapy session, you can expect to spend 45-60 minutes with your therapist. A thorough evaluation will be performed to assess any concerns related to pain, strength, range of motion, daily living skills, or speech. Our goal is to gain enough details to design a treatment plan to meet your physical and lifestyle needs.

What should I wear to my therapy session?

You should wear comfortable clothing that provides easy access to the injured body part. Please also bring or wear athletic shoes.

Will I have same therapist? And, will I be treated one-on-one?

We strive to keep our patients with the same therapist to maximize rapport and recovery. All treatments are conducted one-on-one.

Will I have any privacy?

Usually, treatments are conducted privately. However, there are times when two people are in the same gym due to equipment needed for patient progress.
